For the first time and integrated in the “spirit “of the EGPiS Project, the city of Mirandela in Portugal celebrate in the last April 13th the “Girls Football Day”, an Portuguese Football Federation event organized with the collaboration of the Regional Football Association, the Regional School Sport System and the Mirandela Municipality.
This Portuguese Football Federation initiative aims to promote the sport of football between girls with less than 15 years old. This event has been attended by a total of 8 teams and around 80 female football players that compete in the Under-13 and Under-15 tournament, for some girls this was the first time that they played organized football.
These fantastic initiative goals are connected with the European Erasmus+ Project “Encouraging Girls’ Participation in Sports” and had the distinguished presence of Francisco Neto, the Portuguese National Female Team Coach.
Very soon the Mirandela Municipality will organize other sport events to encourage girls’ participation in sports, May 28th it will be the Girls Volleyball Day, May 31st the Hockey Girl Day and in June 6th the Girls Challenge football event, all this initiatives make part of the celebrations of the local youth and sports week.
